CELESTE NEUHAUS

Celeste Neuhaus (she/they) is a multimodal artist and witch who constellates magic, ecology, and healing. Her sculptural objects, installations, assemblages, paintings, performance videos, and guided interactive rituals incite transformation of the grievous consequences of living within amalgamated systems of oppression and corresponding biodiversity annihilation. Through polysemic symbolism and alchemical materiality their work colorfully clarifies the often subconscious interdependencies between the somatic - psychological - political - ecological - cosmological.

Living with multiple chronic illnesses her entire adult life serves as a catalyst for Celeste’s tenacious research into a spectrum of healing modalities and their corresponding ontologies. The fruits of these inquiries, along with her devotion to several lineages of ancient magical practices, continuously shape the forms of their work. Her offerings have been encountered in museums, magic temples, vacant lots, tree farms, art galleries, riverboats, salt flats, rooftops, and fields of wildflowers.

Celeste is currently the 2026 Artist in Residence at the Center for PostNatural History, and a member of the Shiftworks Creative Corps. They have been an artist-in-residence at ACRE (Steuben, WI), Harold Arts Residency (Chesterhill, OH), Gateway to the Arts, (Hookstown, PA), and The Studio for Creative Inquiry at Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh, PA).
